Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free; I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all. –I’m Free”
Doris Jane Tedrow (Jane Hart), 94 years old, passed away on December 8, 2024, in the City of Laguna Niguel, California.
Doris, known to everyone as “Jane,” was born on August 29, 1930, in the small town of McArthur, Ohio. Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Guy, and Maude Tedrow, and her one sibling, Mary Anne Tedrow Dempsey.
Jane grew up in McArthur, Ohio, where after graduating from high school, she moved to the big city of Columbus, Ohio. There she would hold various jobs before marrying her first husband in 1951, which blessed her with two children: Charles (Rick) and Michael (Tony).
After Jane’s divorce in 1958, she would go on to meet her second husband, and the love of her life—Edward Wesley Hart, and would later marry him in Columbus, Ohio on March 18, 1958. This union would bless Jane with two more children: Terrance (Terry) and Kyle Lynne (Kyle).
After Ed’s service in the U.S. Army ended in 1962, Jane and Ed would move their family to the beautiful state of California, where they stayed for their entire life together.
Jane was a stay-at-home mom who took pride in her home being clean and orderly. She also kept herself busy driving the kids to their after-school events and was continually active in the local PTA until her last child graduated from high school.
Later, Jane went on to receive an associate’s degree in medical assisting-- A feat that she was most proud of and was employed for nine years at a local doctor’s office in Downey.
After both Jane and Ed retired, they moved to the desert town of Sun City but would eventually move back to Orange County in 2014 to be closer to their adult children. It was also the year that Ed passed away unexpectedly.
Jane loved her hobbies. She was a wonderful baker of lemon meringue pies and was known for her unbelievably delicious homemade chicken noodle soup that took her days to prepare.
Jane was also an artist. She painted and sketched mostly landscapes but decided to give it up as she got older.
One of Jane’s best attributes was her ability to be such a good listener for her family and her friends. She always had the time to listen and give loving advice.
Jane was so proud of her husband and four kids and felt so blessed to be a grandma to (10) grandchildren and (4) great grandchildren.
Jane was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was a fighter until her passing. Jane will be missed by those who loved her. Services for Jane will be held Monday, January 27, 2025, at the Riverside National Cemetery.
