Maria R Cortez Serrato

Nació el 24 de mayo de 1922 en Acuitzeramo, Michoacán. Fue la mayor de cuatro hermanos: Luis, Leopoldo y Celia.

Cuca se casó a los 15 años con Francisco Serrato Sepúlveda, quien falleció en 1995. Fue ama de casa y, junto a su esposo, formó una hermosa familia. Tuvieron 13 hijos: Anita, Miguel, Leovigildo, Jesús, Francisco (Pancho), José, Ofelia, Lourdes, Jorge, Elena, Roberto y Arturo.

Su legado continúa a través de sus 36 nietos, 61 bisnietos y 17 tataranietos, sumando un total de 114 descendientes.

Cuca fue una gran persona: una mujer de pocas palabras, pero con un gran sentido del humor. Le gustaba hacer bromas y sacar sonrisas a quienes la rodeaban. Cuando veía fotografías de ella misma, decía con orgullo que todavía se veía muy bien.

En uno de los cumpleaños que Dios nos permitió celebrar junto a ella, compartió estas palabras:

“Los padres son lo mejor. No encontrarán a nadie como sus padres. Les agradezco a todos que siempre se reúnan, sin importar la ocasión. Manténganse unidos y sigan viéndose; eso es todo lo que les pido.”

Madre, abuela, abuelita, tu espíritu y tus enseñanzas vivirán por siempre en nuestros corazones. Gracias por ser nuestra reina durante 104 años.

María Refugio Cortez Serrato, lovingly known as Cuca, was the daughter of Bautista Cortés Guillén and Anastacia Serrato Naranjo. She was born on May 24, 1922, in Acuitzeramo, Michoacán. She was the eldest of four siblings: Luis, Leopoldo, Celia, and herself.

Cuca married Francisco Serrato Sepúlveda at the age of 15, whom passed in 1995. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Together, they raised 13 children: Anita, Miguel, Leovigildo, Jesús, Francisco (Pancho), José, Ofelia, Lourdes, Jorge, Elena, Roberto, Arturo, and one son who passed away when very young.

She was blessed with 36 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy that spans generations.

Cuca was a remarkable woman—quiet in nature, yet blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. She touched the lives of everyone around her with her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love for her family.

During one of her birthday celebrations, she shared these heartfelt words:

“Your parents are the best. You will never find anyone like your parents. I thank all of you for always coming together, no matter the occasion. Continue to stay united and keep seeing one another. That is all I ask of you.”

Her spirit, wisdom, and teachings will forever live in our hearts. Thank you for being our queen for 104 years.
