

Phyllis was born in Wahpeton, ND on April 5,1931 to Adelbert F. “Bid” and Hattie A. (Brolander) Rosenkranz. She grew up in Tyler, ND until age 16, when she moved with her family to Yakima, WA. There she attended Yakima High School, graduating in 1949. She worked as a bank teller until meeting and marrying Donald W. Alderson, who she met at a square dance club. They married on July 24, 1955. She then stayed home to help raise their 3 children, Douglas, Susan and David.
Phyllis was an energetic wife and mother that maintained a wholesome and loving family environment. She was avidly devoted to her church and community, including being a leader in the women’s auxiliary for the local volunteer fire department. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV, and were members of the Apple Rovers RV Club. In 2016 she sold the family home in Yakima, WA and relocated to Menifee, CA to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Even in her later years, she loved social activities in her community, going to exercise classes, excursions with the travel club and playing dominos.
Phyllis is survived by her sister, Karen Simpson of Spokane, WA, daughter Susan M. Alderson of Menifee, CA, son David B. Alderson; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca and Justin Sanders; Christopher, Amy, Nicholas, Sara, Ashley, Dillon, Tyler and Aliza Alderson; a great grandson, Noah Alderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald W. Alderson and son Douglas E. Alderson, her brother John Rosenkranz, and her sister Janet Russell.
