At the age of 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in Des Moines, Iowa. During his time in the military, Ralph took courses in auto and engine equipment mechanics. Ralph was transferred to Camp Pendleton, California and received an honorable discharge military in February 1959. Upon leaving the military, Ralph began his career as a mechanic in San Diego. He lived in San Diego until 1972 when the family moved to Lake Elsinore.
Ralph enjoyed taking road trips and took many trips around the country to visit friends and family. If he wasn't taking road trips, he would just hop in the car and go for a drive.
Ralph passed away on July 4, 2023 at his home in Sun City at the age of 84. He will be missed by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
