

On June 11, 2022, Albert Cardenas 74, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family. Albert was born February 17, 1948, in Merced, CA and was the first-born son to Porfirio and Lupe Cardenas who preceded him. He resided in Merced until the Lord took him home.
Albert grew up in Merced with a large loving family. He graduated Merced High School in 1966 and attended Merced Jr. College. He joined the Army in 1968 where he served his Country proudly until his Honorable Discharge. Shortly after he returned from the Army, Albert started working for the United States Postal Service where he worked for 40 years until he retired.
Albert was a driven professional with an unmatched work ethic. He was an avid sports fan. His love and passion were for the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. Win or lose that was still his favorite team. He loved his family and friends with all his heart, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. He loved to entertain by having Sunday Family football days and many BBQs with friends. Albert played in the Mexican American hardball league and played many years for the Post Office slow pitch softball team. He was a coach for the Gazebo Flag Football team and Merced Sweethearts. One his greatest accomplishments was running from Bear Creek to Lake Yosemite and back. Albert looked forward to the Annual Garcia’s Family Father’s Day Reunion. This would’ve have been his 65th year.
He is survived by his children, Timothy Paul Cardenas, Denise Cardenas, and Nikolaus Paul Cardenas. Brothers, Edward (Jody) Cardenas and William Cardenas. Grandchildren, Ekaterina (Michael) Diaz, Brittanny (Michael) Holmes, Mitchell King and Karlee King. Great-Grandchildren, Nevaeh, Isabella, and Levi Diaz and Deklan Holmes. Countless Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
Rosary for Albert will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 6:00 pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Merced, CA. A Catholic mass will be Thursday June 23, 2022, at 10:00 am, Merced, CA. An interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Merced, CA.
