Blix Christine Pluim a Merced Resident died Monday in Merced, She was 87.
Blix was born in Kimble County, London, Texas July 13, 1924. She was one of the five sisters and one brother born to Joseph & Emma Hardesty.
Blix worked at Castle Field from 1943-45, Court reporting AWOL cases in Gregg Shorthand. She also worked for Crocker-Huffman Land & Water Co from 1945-47.
Her community service included: serving on election boards over the years and Volunteered to work on civic affairs when needed. She last served as treasurer for the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Blix's hobbies included: golfing, sewing, reading, Bridge, gardening, crossword puzzles, and cooking.
Her fondest memory of living in Merced County was "Upon moving her in 1939, I went to Merced Theater for the first time to see "Gone with the Wind". I thought it was beautiful and am eagerly awaiting its refurbishment. One of my greatest joys is just living in Merced and calling it home. It's a great City with nice people."
Blix was married to Albert "Tut" Pluim for 61 years before being widowed in 2007. She is surviced her sister Bess (Williamson) Zierkel of Anitioch, sons Eric & Patt (Roth) Pluim of Rocklin, Mark & Cheryl (Hamill) Pluim of Watsonville. Grand childern Tasha Pluim of Nevada City, Chelsea Pluim & Nicolas Pluim of Watsonville, Derrick Roth of Roseville, Jonathan & Adrienne Roth and great grand child Kingston Kai Roth of Colorado, Springs CO.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Merced County Historical Society at the Merced County Court House Museum.
Friends & Family are invited to a Celebration of Blix's life will be held at the Merced Golf & Country Club, 6333 N. Golf Road, Sunday June 24 at 11:30am
Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.
