California and ultimately made Merced, California his home in 1973. On May 6, 2024, at
the age of 78, Bruce peacefully passed away.
On January 27, 1970, Bruce married the love of his life, Janet Jackson, in Salt Lake City,
Utah. Together, they raised seven wonderful children. Bruce cherished his role as a
father and found great joy in watching his family grow. His devotion to his wife, children,
and grandchildren knew no bounds.
Bruce pursued his education with dedication, attending Long Beach State and
graduating from Brigham Young University before earning his law degree from the
University of San Francisco in 1973.
Bruce was a respected attorney for 50 years practicing civil law and litigation. Beyond
his professional endeavors, he enjoyed playing golf, softball, racquetball and being the
most devoted San Francisco Giants baseball fan. His talents extended beyond the
courtroom and the sports field; Bruce was a gifted storyteller, creating tales with moral
lessons to teach both his children and grandchildren.
Bruce's commitment to service was evident in his roles as a former President and active
member of North Merced Rotary International, as well as his membership and past
presidency of the Merced County Bar Association. He embodied the values of
community and fellowship throughout his life.
A man of faith, Bruce was a longtime devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. He was an exceptional teacher of gospel principles and an inspiring
speaker, having served at different times as Bishop, High Councilor, Scout master and in
other roles. He loved sharing stories about his two-year missionary service in Texas. He
valued his experiences and associations in these various capacities throughout his life.
