Burna Dean Burnthorne

Burna Dean Burnthorne, a beloved resident of Merced, California, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the age of 90. Burna was born on December 10, 1933, in Camden, Arkansas, and lived a full and remarkable life.

Burna was the owner of Sierra College of Beauty in Merced, California and was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church.

She is survived by her loving family, including her brother Robert Simmons (Joyce); grandchildren Robert Baines, Eric Baines (Liz); great grandchildren Charlie and Ryan; grandchild Nicholas Baines and great grandchild Hudson; grandchild Kevin Baines (Rene) and great grandchildren Ariel and Raelynn; son Bryan Richard Burnthorne, Jr., grandson Bryan Richard Burnthorne III, great-grandchildren Seven, Colby, Adi, Eli and granddaughter Alyssa Martinez and great granddaughter Ava; son Gary Burnthorne (Lisa), grandsons Ryan Burnthorne (Shely) and two great-grandchildren Corynn and Hunter; grandson Christopher Burnthorne (Krysta), and grandson Colin Burnthorne, grandchild Rhys Burnthorne; and granddaughter Remington Fowler (Logan); son Bret Burnthorne, Sr. (Julie), grandchild Bret Burnthorne, Jr., granddaughter Krisha Stickles (Alan), and great grandchildren Lane and Sadie Stickles and daughter Tami Whiteley (Chris), granddaughter Candace Docherty (Casey), great grandchildren Liam, James, and Iris. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that loved her.

Burna is preceded in death by her husband Bryan Richard Burnthorne and daughter Rhonda Baines (Larry).

Burna Dean Burnthorne will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will cherish the memories of her kindness, love, and unwavering spirit.

A funeral service for Burna will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2024 beginning at 10:30 AM at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced, CA 95341. A reception will follow at the Stratford Evans Reception Hall. A graveside service will occur Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 10:30 AM at San Joaquín Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Rd, Santa Nella, CA 95322.
