David Lee Skaggs

David Lee Skaggs, 76 years old of Merced, California. He passed away at his home on February 10th, 2026.

He was Native American of the Chickasaw tribe. After graduating high school, he became a skilled carpenter following his father's footsteps. He was also a truck driver for many years before retiring. He helped build bridges and houses around the Modesto area. He had a love for fast cars, listening to blues and watching old westerns. He always had funny little sayings for almost everything.

He is survived by his children, Darlene Whitehead, Lincoln Brownlee, Janet Chavez, and Boyd Skaggs II. His grandchildren Michael Whitehead, Heather Whitehead, Joseph Chavez Jr. Angelica Moreno, Ashley Janson, Christian Bradley, Xander Skaggs and Seth Skaggs. His great grandchildren Gabriel Chavez, Angel Moreno, Adam Moreno and Theo Whitehead. His sisters Beth Bridgegroom, Shelby Doan and Mary Worman.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Skaggs, Stepdaughter Christina Fretwell, his mother Wanda Skaggs, his father Boyd Skaggs, his sister Kimberly Wolf, and his brothers Ronald Skaggs and Carl Skaggs.
