Florence A. Garcia

Florence loved her family and friends wholeheartedly. Some of her hobbies included going shopping and traveling with her sister, Jessica “Mousie”. Florence loved to be at the ocean where she would sit and watch the waves for hours.

While enjoying the soothing sounds of the wind chimes that hung from her house, she spent time in her garden watering her plants, which she was well known for.

Florence and her late husband, Edward built their home in Planada, California where she lived for over 30 years. She collected salt and pepper shakers from all the places she traveled, as well as different Santa Claus figures which she proudly displayed thoughout her home around Christmas time.

Florence is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Edward S. Garcia ; parents, Guadalupe and Jenny Alcantara; brother, Junior Alcantara; sons, Steven and David Garcia; as well as her grandson and great granddaughter.

She is survived by her children, Edward (Mary) Garcia of Nevada, Ricky (Yolanda) Garcia of Merced, Robert (Shirley) Garcia of Merced, Johnny (Laura) Garcia of Sacramento, Daniel (Lisa) Garcia of Merced, Mitch (Marisa) Garcia of Planada, Deborah Garcia of Le Grand, and Nick Garcia of Planada; brother, Albert “Abby” Alcantara; and sister, Jessica “Mousie” Alcantara, as well as her 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with vigil service with rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street Merced, California 95341. The funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 9317 Amistad Ave. Planada, California 95365 with burial to follow at Plainsburg Cemetery located at 8943 Gillette Ave. Merced, California.

A reception to follow at the Baxter Hall located at 13065 Adams St. LeGrand Ca 95333.
