In 1983, Fred began his career and dedicated over thirty years to the maintenance and grounds keeping department at Chowchilla Union High School. Fred’s commitment and hard work earned him the respect from all who had the pleasure of working with him. Fred retired in 2015.
Outside of his work, Fred loved fishing, going to San Francisco, CA and working in his yard. He enjoyed Red Lobster and never passed up the opportunity to get a sweet tea from McDonalds. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and shared a special bond with grandson, Tyler Flores. In his younger years, Fred loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. Fred’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his wife Rose. Fred passed away on their 35th wedding anniversary and Rose was the center of his life. They enjoyed doing everything together. Fred attended the Revival Center Church in Chowchilla, CA.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Umada; mother, Julia Bejarano; step-father, Lupe Bejarano Sr.; step-daughter, Jennifer Rose Flores; brothers, David Umada, Ruben Umada, Albert Umada, Lupe Bejarano Jr., and Edward Umada; sisters, Frances Umada and Gloria Mendoza and mother-in-law, Maria Campos.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Umada of Chowchilla; step-children, Corina Dominguez and husband Ricardo, Marisa Garcia and husband Mitch, and Annisa Lopez and husband Ivan; brother, Daniel Umada; sisters, Delia Martinez and Lupita Umada; sister-in-law, Angela Briceno; brothers-in-law, Joseph Edward Moreno and Lorrance Moreno; 15 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. Fred is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Palm Memorial Worden Chapel, 140 S. 6th Street Chowchilla, CA.
