
1918 – 2011
Pinky was born in Boston, Massachusetts. She was raised and schooled in East Weymouth, Mass. Where she met and married Lester Turner in 1940. They had three children: Barbara, Lester, and (Gladys) Cynthia.
In 1953 the family moved to Merced, Soon widowed, Pinky went to work for Chapman Shoes (later Brown Shoes) where she was employed for many years. From there, she went to work for Tioga Florist. Upon Retiring, she moved to Modesto and then to Oakdale to Oak Haven Senior Apartments.
She was preceded in death by two of her children: Lester Turner and Cynthia Jackson and grandson, Matthew Paulsen. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Johnson (Tom), daughter-in-law Torhild Turner and grandchildren Rebecca Overturf, Joshua Jackson, Brian Turner, David Jackson, Carrie Enos, and Jennifer Chamberlain and seven great-grandchildren: Samantha Overturf, Cynthia, Katelyn and Isaiah Chamberlain, Nolan Enos, and Lucy and Daniel Sebastian.
She had a special love of the ocean and Yosemite and was proud of her Yankee heritage. She was also very proud that all four of her grandsons served voluntarily in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Interment will reunite her once again with her husband Lester in the Masonic section of the Merced Cemetery on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
In Lieu of flowers she requested that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 340 West Fallbrook Avenue, Fresno, CA 93711.
