1/19/1948-7/14/2012
Jean also known as “Jeannie” to her friends and “The Hippie Queen” to her kids…went to Heaven Saturday, July 14, 2012.
Jean made an impact on anyone she met. She had a special ability of helping people feel good about who they are and want to become. She was an artist’s artist...crafty and as sharp as it gets. Jean created a lifetimes worth of inspiring art in all types of mediums.
Born in Minnesota, growing up with only her mother and brother. Jean moved around a lot with her mother Virginia, taking new positions in the Pacific Bell Phone Co. She spent a large portion of her young influential years in Santa Cruz before moving to Sacramento and beginning high school. She stayed in the area until she moved to Merced in the early 70’s where she met her future husband, Bobby Deans in Applegate Park and together they started a family.
Jean had a few different jobs in Merced starting at Willies Shoe Shine, moving to working at Pacific Bell for over a decade, retired early and drove the Marts City Bus for 8 years. Her final job was taking care of her loved ones and what a job she did!
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Wood; brother, James Wood; and husband, Robert Deans.
Jean is survived by her son, James; daughter, Crystal; and grandsons, Gabriel and Joel Badillo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.
