

He was born November 20th, 1954 in Wayne County to Harry Mowrer Jr. and Judy Miller Mowrer. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, and his community as a long time active member and current president of Merced’s Chapter of the Breakfast Lion’s Club. John was also active with the Alzheimer’s’ Association, In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) and the local Area on Ageing as a grant writer. John was a Health Administrator for LandyCare Inc. for more than 20 years. He also volunteered as a coach for the City of Merced and coached each one of his three children in various sports. John was an avid sports fan. He loved football most of all and was in regular attendance for many local sporting events. He loved his Ohio State Buckeyes. His hobbies included sports, volunteering, being creative with his hands, gardening and being out on the farm.
Surviving him is his Mother Judy Miller Mowrer, brother Ira (IJ) Mowrer, sisters Nancy Firebaugh, Linda Cherry and Mary Clark, former wife Alana Mowrer,children Jana Mowrer, Aaron Mowrer and Genaye Mowrer Ladousier, grandchildren Damon and Gavin Ladousier, fiancée Janice Ceccarelli.
The memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, December 19th, 2013 at the Christian Life Center (650 E. Olive Ave, Merced) at 11am. There will be a reception immediately following which will be graciously hosted by the Merced Breakfast Lions Club.
