Johnnie Theodore Freitas was born on May 27, 1940 in Modesto, CA and passed away in Merced, CA on January 26, 2012 at the age of 71.

Johnnie started his body shop at the age of 17. He opened Freitas Auto Wreckers in 1963, which is currently operated by his two sons, Terry & Rodney Freitas. He devoted years to restoring antique cars, with his two sons. His passions in life included; cars, hot rods, racing, farming, and raising cattle. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He was blessed with being able to play with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Johnnie was affiliated with the Valve Burners and the Merced Elks Lodge #1240 B.P.O.E.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, John Freitas and Mary Corn.

He is survived by his sons; Terry (Cyndy) Freitas and Rodney Freitas of Merced; stepson; Mike Harris of Merced; sister; Jaine Schropp of Merced; grandchildren; Joanie Leidich of Atwater, Jennifer Freitas of Merced, Terri Jean Cunha of Merced, and Jenna Freitas of Merced; and great grandchildren; Mason & Kendall Leidich, Kaden & Kaleigh Price, and Wyatt, Weston, & Maysie Cunha.

Visitation will be at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 2:00p.m.-7:00p.m. Services will be held at 10:00a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Yosemite Church, 2230 E Yosemite Ave, Merced, CA. with burial to follow at Winton District Cemetery.
