Jorge Hernandez Guerrero

Jorge was born on April 23, 1924 in Santa Cruz, Chihuahua, MX and passed away on February 24, 2013 in Merced, CA at the age of 88.

Jorge came to the United States at the age of 17. He was married in Guadalupe, Chihuahua, MX on November 19, 1945 to Margarita Mejia.

He worked as a ranch foreman in New Mexico and then came to California as a foreman for Farm Labor where he worked from 1967-1999. He also was a loyal member of the United Farm Workers Union founded by Cesar Chavez.

Jorge was a very giving man who would always take toys, clothes, etc to Mexico. He would also take his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply, to the park and buy them ice cream or pan from the Panadero.

Jorge belonged to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Asociación Guadalupana and La Edad de Oro.

Jorge was preceded in death by his daughter, Ester Rodriguez and great grandson, Angel Vidals.

He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Margarita Guerrero; sons, Jorge, Berandino, Guadalupe, Ruben, Gilberto, Arthur and Eddie Guerrero; daughters, Gloria Dennis, Ruth Rodriguez, Cruzita Machuca, Esperanza Rios, Margie Fregoso and Anita Romero; 48 grandchildren; 94 great grandchildren and 27 great great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 2:00pm-7:00pm with Recitation of Rosary to be at 6:00pm. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 12:00pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 519 W. 12th St., Merced, CA 95340 followed with interment at Merced District Cemetery.
