
Justin Wade Richardson passed away February 9, 2023, at the age of 46. He was born June 6, 1976, to Mike and Sue Richardson of Cathey's Valley, CA. He was born in Mariposa, CA, and has been a lifetime resident of Mariposa County.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Mike Richardson, and his grandparents, Malcom and Betty Wass, and Forest and Mildred Richardson. He is also preceded in death by his uncle, Russell Wass and aunt, Kathy Wass.
Justin is survived by his mother, Sue Richardson, of Mariposa, his children, Michael and Ciera of Nevada, Liam of Mariposa, and his step daughters Emma and Kate Maule of Mariposa, his sister Katy (Dan Casner) of Mariposa and brother Jeffery (Anna) Richardson of Missouri, his best friend Hannah Maule-Richardson of Mariposa, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, cousins and many lifelong friends.
Justin is 6th generation of Mariposa County. He graduated from Mariposa County High School. He participated in baseball, 4H and FFA in his youth and continued to support these programs in his adult life. He studied Diesel Mechanics and became a master of his field working for Holt. He eventually opened his own business, West Coast Equipment Repair, and worked on many local projects such as the dam at Bass Lake. He fulfilled his dream of working on the mines in Nevada through his business. He was named Businessman of the Year in 2011.
Justin took over his dad's love of ranching. Justin used his father's brand for his own cattle. Justin also learned the love of car racing from his father-in-law, Vern Willhoite, and that love has been passed on to his own son, Liam. Justin was a member of the Matuca Chapter 1849 E Clampus Vitus and was involved in other chapters as well. He was an Odd Fellow's Member and also became a recent member of the John C. Fremont 1854 Historical Society.
A memorial will be held Saturday, February 25th, at 11:00 A.M. at the Van Ness Ranch, 5260 Carlton Rd., Mariposa, CA. (take Silva Rd. to Carlton Rd.) Meat and beans will be provided. You are welcomed to bring a side dish.
