Louie Mata Martinez

Louie was in the US Army for 20 years, during this time he was stationed in Germany, Ft. Lewis, Washington and Fort Ord, Monterey, California. He received the Air Medal for Heroism, Meritorious Service medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star. Louie retired as Master Sergeant. Later in life he retired as a County Employee.

Louie is preceded in death by his wife Ursula Martinez; parents, Benjamin and Maria Martinez; brothers, Frank, Domingo, Gabriel, Sylvester and Mike; sisters, Virginia and Jenny.

Louie is survived by his daughter, Kathy Martinez; son, Louie M. Martinez Jr. (Francine); brother Julio Martinez; sisters, Phyllis and Katherine; 6 grandchildren; 8 and counting great grandchildren; caretaker, Joseph Estacio.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced, California. A funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, with burial to follow at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
