Lynn Thomas Johns

Lynn Johns, 92, passed away on August 10, 2015 in Merced, CA. At her side were her devoted husband of 68 years, Bert and her beloved son, Bert. Lynn is further survived by her daughter-in-law, Tina Johns; her sister, Anne Callen; her granddaughter, Ashley Davis (Sean); her great-grandchildren, Sloane and Michael; and several nieces and nephews. Lynn was born in Tooele, Utah on April 1, 1923, to Frank and Frances Sabljak Thomas.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Michael, Nick, Frank, James, William, and George; and sisters, Mary and Rosemarie.

Lynn was passionate about family, friends, the community and her country. She proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II until her honorable discharge as a Sergeant in May, 1946. She then worked for the Department of the Army for thirty years. She received commendation as Program Analyst, Comptroller, for her superior managing of the Instrumentation and Modernization Program, at the U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground in Dugway, Utah.

During her retirement in Merced, Lynn tirelessly volunteered for many years at Mercy Hospital.

The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 26, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 671 E. Yosemite Ave, Merced. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hinds Hospice 410 W. Main Street, Merced, CA, 95340 or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
