Mary Louise Joyce Green

January 12, 1929 – December 8, 2010

Mary Green passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Merced Medical Center in Merced.

Mary is survived by her son, Edgar A. Green Jr.; daughter-in-law, Diana; granddaughters, Shannon and Shawn; brothers-in-law, Ron Green and Dean Fetter; sisters-in-law, Marion Von Nash, Beverly Spicci, Cookie Lowe and a large number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar A. Green Sr.; son, Jerry W. Green; brothers, Clyde Lowe, Dick Lowe and George Lowe; and sisters, June Autwell and Shirley Ludka.

Mary was a resident of Merced for 78 years and was a graduate of Merced High School. She married Edgar A. Green on June 12, 1948 and lived happily together for 56 years until his death in 2004. The couple built a home in Merced and raised two sons. Mary volunteered for various local projects over the years. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed flowers, the mountains, traveling, playing bingo and was an accomplished baker.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home in Merced. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. An informal gathering will be held after the funeral services at a location to be announced.
