Mary Louise Wallace, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Merced on March 10, 2024, at the age of 79. She was surrounded by her loving family, who were by her side throughout her final days.
Mary was born on April 29, 1944, to Mary and Ray Nutcher. She grew up in a loving family on a ranch in Hilmar. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Howard, Steven, and Arthur, as well as her sister Phillis Tornquist. Throughout her life, Mary cherished the bond she shared with her surviving sister, Carol Kellogg, who remained her closest friend until the end.
In 1963, Mary married the love of her life, John Keith Wallace. Together, they celebrated 60 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their bond was a testament to the strength of their commitment to each other.
Mary is survived by her three children, Laurie Zellmer (Phil), Lisa Thomas (Brian), and John Michael Wallace (Kindle). She was a source of unwavering support and guidance to her children throughout their lives, instilling in them values of kindness, perseverance, and love. Her legacy lives on in her seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.
Mary's kindness, warmth, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a gift for making others feel cherished and loved, and her presence brought comfort to those around her. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice nurses and staff who provided compassionate care to Mary during her final days. Their dedication and support brought comfort and peace to Mary and her family during a difficult time.
Mary Louise Wallace will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love she shared and the lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church (2916 McKee Rd, Merced CA) this Saturday starting at 10:00 am. Following the service there will be a reception at the Church.
