Mike Barroso was born January 25, 1936 in Rosário, Azores to Dominic and Maria do Rosário Barroso. He lived the first 30 years of his life in the Azores Island. He then migrated to the United States where he and his brothers Joe and Dominic started their own business as Dairymen. On April 19, 2018 the good Lord took him home to heaven.
Mike was involved with the Buhach Pentecostal Organization where he was the president from 1980-1981. He was also involved in the celebrations of Our Lady of Fatima of Merced, California, a member of the Eagles Lodge; he also served for many years as the Eucharist Minister for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Merced, California.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Olivia Barroso; his two daughters, Lucy (John) Gasaway and Theresa Barroso and her fiancé Ernie Coughlin; his siblings, Mary Soares, Gertrude Barbosa, Teresa Floriano, Joe Barroso and Dominic Barroso; and his grandchildren, Mark (Heather), Jacob, Paul and Amanda (Ryan); and his great grandchildren, Abby and Noah.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Maria do Rosário Barroso; and his brothers; Manuel, Tony and John Barroso.
Mike will be greatly missed by all of us, but he will always live on in our hearts. There will be a visitation held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street, Merced, California on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.. A rosary with funeral mass following will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, located at 671 E. Yosemite Ave, Merced, California. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Merced, California.
