Patricia Dale McQuillen

It is with heavy heart we announce our beloved Patricia has gone home to be with our Lord. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by the love of family and friends on September 28th, 2018. She was 79 years old. Patricia was born in Merced, California on October 18th, 1938 to Marvin Samuel Broughton

and Aileen May Stahl. She was the granddaughter of John and Martha Broughton and Herbert and Grace Stahl. A lifelong resident of Merced she attended city schools and was a graduate of the original El Capitan High School. Patty was a member of The Sunshine Girls, American Legion, and was a Girl Scout/Cub Scout leader. Patricia married Dennis Allen McQuillen in September of 1955 and they remained married for 48 years until his death in 2003. She proudly served as an Airforce wife from 1955-1975 where their many travels took them to Alaska, Tennessee, Okinawa Japan, Lompoc California, Wyoming, and Arizona. A member of the Church of Christ she was baptized in 1969 with her sister Marline. Patricia was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a friend and sister in Christ to many and loved her congregation the Church of Christ in Atwater California. Patricia is survived by her sister Marline Lee DeGough (Wayne), her brother Marvin Kim Broughton (Cindy) her children: Laura Makal- McQuillen, Byron McQuillen, Arleen McQuillen, Suzette Follett (Forest), Michael McQuillen (Brenda), Jennifer McQuillen, Matthew McQuillen, and Victor Downey. Patricia also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her daughter Laura, her grandson Phillip McQuillen, her great grandsons Jacob Hickman, baby Carlos Espinoza, Landon Moldt, and Paul Downey. There will be a closed casket viewing on Friday October 5th from 5pm to 8pm at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, Merced, Ca. Graveside Services will be held Saturday October 6th at 11:00 am at the Merced District Cemetery, Merced, Ca. A reception will follow at the McQuillen home.
