

Ray E. Harris, 91 of Merced passed away Saturday Morning October 5, 2013. Ray was one of six children and was born in Salt Lake City Utah on January 1, 1922. Ray was part of the greatest Generation, Ray served proudly as a tank commander in the Army`s second Armored Division, Hell On wheels. Ray was in the second wave of American Soldiers to land on Omaha Beach, and for the next 18 months he would lead his tanks through, Europe, north to Berlin and into the Battle of the Bulge, after the war Ray returned to Merced where he then met his Bride, Nettie Spurlock, they were married on October 12th 1946. Ray and his Bride remained married until her death in 2007, Ray Worked for Del Monte until his retirement in 1985. Ray gave a special kind if Unconditional love to his Children and Grandchildren for which they are forever grateful. Ray is survived by his children, Peggy Huber of Irvine, Carole Gribben of Bakersfield, Harold Harris and his wife, Leslie of Fairfield, and Don Harris and his wife Kathie of Merced. Ray also leaves behind his loving grandchildren: Trent Gribben, Jessa Youngblood and Ray Gibben, Alana Sullivan and Matthew Harris, Julie Harris, Rebecca Harris and Michael Harris. Ray leaves behind his beloved Great-Grandchildren; Michael and Kaitlin Gribben: Abigail, Benjamin, Rachel, Josiah, Abraham and Noah Youngblood: Ally and Thomas Gribben; Alyssa Harris, Dominique and Isabella Sullivan: Matthew, Charleee and Parker Harris and Alex Brown. Ray is also survived by his brother, Neal Harris of Santa Cruz and many nieces, nephews and Friends. Services for Ray will be held Saturday October 12, 2013, 11: 00 A.M. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral 1490 B Street Merced CA 95341.
