He is preceded in death by his parents, his four sisters and his beloved wife, Mildred.
He is survived by his nieces, Joan Bippus of Citrus Heights, California, Sharon Neto of Hughson, California and Janet Anderson of Renton, Washington; nephews Greg Hunter of Merced, California, Rick Hunter of Planada, California and Terry Prost of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Cecil retired from the Merced County Public Works Department as a supervisor. In February this year, Cecil was awarded 70 years late, the Purple Heart for wounds he received in action on May 14, 1945, while serving against hostile forces in the vicinity of Okinawa.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Merced District Cemetery in Merced, California.
