Fred Louis James

Funeral services for Fred Louis James, age 82, of Meridian, will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11 am in Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Seaphus Garrett and Rev. Lamar Liefer officiating. Burial will follow in Meridian Memorial Park.

Mr. James passed away in his home Tuesday. He was a retired U.S. Marine Major with 24 years of service and former owner of House of Tropical Pets for 17 years and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. Fred is survived by his wife Mitzi Pace James, children Sharon James Davis (Jimmy), Lara James Shelton (Purvis) all of Meridian and Chris James (Tia) of Covington, LA. He leaves fourteen grandchildren; Jessica Gunter Lunsford, Josh Gunter, Marcus Davis, Jon Davis, Shane McInerney, Rebecca Bruno, Tiffany Bruno, Taylor James, Rylee James, Renatta Shelton Smallwood, Tori Shelton Hiatt, Wade Shelton, Mollie Shelton and Gabby Shelton. Sixteen Great Grandchildren also survive. He is also survived by his sisters Sally Truelove and Lawana James.

Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents Fred Roy and Rosa James, brother Bill James, sister Nancy James and granddaughter Christine McInerney.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimers Research Center, Calvary Baptist Church and/or school or your favorite charity.

Visitation will be Friday, 5pm to 8pm.
