Graveside services for James Howard Townsend will be held Wednesday, at 10 a.m., at Chunky Cemetery, Chunky, with Rev. Paul McDonald officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Townsend, 89, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at Lakeside Living Center in Quitman after a brief illness. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include sons: Timothy Townsend of Grayson, Ga. and his wife Cherri Chambers Townsend, and Mark Townsend and his wife Beverly Townsend of Richardson, Texas; two granddaughters; and, two step and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia Frances Witt Townsend; daughter, Charlotte Townsend Owens; brothers: Aaron Elbert Townsend and Thomas Mabry Townsend; and sisters: Sadie Louise Townsend Baker and Annie Pearl Townsend Smith of Meridian.
Visitation will be held today, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
