

Jimmy W. Sutherland, son of Ben and Stella Sutherland was born on February 3, 1930 in Arbyrd, MO and went home to meet his Heavenly Father on February 21, 2015 at the age of 85. Services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 2:00pm at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Carl White and Rev. Mike May officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
He was married to Maxine Winkler Sutherland for 49 ½ years before she preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, W.B.”Dub” Sutherland and Donald Sutherland, three sisters, Betty Heiden, Cora Lee Shands, and Clarene Holcomb McFarland and a son, Jimmy “Wayne” Sutherland II.
Survivors include his wife, Billie B. Sutherland of Meridian, one son Steven Ray Sutherland of Petal, MS, one daughter Sharon Johnson (Larry H) of Meridian, one granddaughter Laura J. Sullivan (Steven) of Collinsville, MS, and one sister, Alma Heady of Southaven, MS. He is also survived by two step daughters, Karen May (Mike) of Brandon, MS (children Bryant and Melissa), and Elaine Pounds (Barry) of Madison, MS (children Jeremy, Joey and Jason), four step great grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Dr. Willie Greer, Quinn Carlisle, Jerry McCay, Robert Bowles, Dr. Dan Fulton and Mark Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers are the Tim Snowden’s Sunday School Class members.
Visitation was held at Stephens Funeral Home on Monday, February 23, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church Building Fund, Midway Baptist Church Youth Fund, The Exchange Church in Pearl, MS. or The Alzheimer’s Association.
