Bruce served in the Navy as a machinist mate on a submarine and began his own painting company in 1992. He returned to college, receiving his BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology in 2001. While attending college, he volunteered for both The Florida Solar Energy Institute and NASA before moving to Elizabethtown, PA where he began working for M&M Mars and receiving his MBA from Penn State University. In 2003 he moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, taking a position with Post Cereal. He ran the Detroit Marathon in 2006. At the time of his passing, Bruce had been at Nestle Purina in St. Louis for two years.
His passion was his wife of 16 years, Becky. He enjoyed traveling, singing, playing the drums, and was looking forward to running a half-marathon in the fall.
He is survived by his wife Becky, his sons, Paul and Philip Hope and their wives, Julie and Viky, 2 grand-children, Carter Hope; and Logan Hope; his mother, Carolyn, siblings, Belinda, Bob, Boyd, and Diane Miller; their children, Christopher, Lita, Shane, and Hunter; mother-in-law, Sue Head, sisters-in-law and their husbands, Cindy and Doug Owens and Jenny and Don Lusk and their children, Jake Owens and Jill Owens Youngkin, Adam and Anna Lusk and their families. He was met in heaven by his father, beloved brother, Billy, and father-in-law Thomas Head.
His ashes will be interred at Florida Memorial Gardens on Saturday, May 25th at 1:00 p.m. followed by a ceremony at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home on Merritt Island at 3:00 p.m. celebrating his life.
