Garth Gavin Burgett

Garth Gavin Burgett peacefully ended his long courageous fight against cancer on December 20, 2015. Through his illness Garth entered into a personal relationship with Christ, developed a love for God and followed Christ in Believer's Baptism.

Garth was born on February 17, 1964 in Slidell, LA. He was a lifelong resident of Florida, his family having moved to Merritt Island in 1965. Garth graduated from Merritt Island High School in 1982 and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Central Florida. Garth worked as a senior software engineer for AAA in Lake Mary, Florida for over twenty years. His co-workers remember him as "an amazing person who was the best software developer they had".

Garth is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Sheila Burgett, his son's, Brayden, Grant and Logan, his father, Frederick Charles Burgett, Jr., his twin brother, Brooks B. Burgett, and his sisters, Stacy L. Burgett and Leslie B, Burgett. Garth had two nephews and one niece, namely: Pierce Burgett, Elijah Treffinger, and Sydney Burgett. Garth was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon L. Burgett and his brother, Kevin B. Burgett. Garth also leaves behind many great friends and co-workers. Garth was a kind and generous man who will always be remembered for his sharp mind, his quick wit and great smile.

Visitation hours will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home at 1360 N. Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, FL on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 and at 9:00 a.m. December 23rd at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Cocoa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Cocoa. Immediately following, burial services will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville, FL.
