

Jerry was born August 25, 1942 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Elmer Lee Mason and Ruth Ellen (Smith) Mason. He was the third of five children. Jerry spent his childhood in the hills of southeast Kentucky before the family relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and worked at a radar station in northern Alaska. He returned to Florida and found employment at Kennedy Space Center during the Apollo Program, and worked for various contractors at KSC before retiring in 2005. KSC is also where Jerry met the love of his life, Michele Carter. The two married in 1975, purchased the family home in Merritt Island, and raised four children together. Jerry enjoyed long drives, antique cars, military history, science fiction, and weekend breakfasts with his grandson Curtis at the local cafe.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Roger Mason, Judy Hawkins, and David Mason, and wife Michele.
Survivors include sister Patricia Rees; children Sarah, Rachel, Jacob, and Meaghan; grandchildren Shaylean, Amber, Curtis, Wyatt, and Myles; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
