

He was born on November 12, 1936 in Huntsville, Alabama to his parents Benjamin F. Taylor and Lizzie Sue McElyea Taylor.
Jesse lived a fantastic life and loved the Lord. He moved to Merritt Island in 1961 and immediately became a part of the Space Program. He was intimately involved in the race to the moon. Jesse personally knew Dr. Von Braun and the original seven astronauts. He loved his work. Later he was actively involved in the Shuttle Program, even to the point of taking a flight in the Vomit Comet.
He was preceded in death by his sons Dean E. Taylor and Steve A. Wetta; brother Jimmy Taylor; sister Wanda Brightwell; and the mother of his children, Edie V. Wetta.
Jesse is survived by his son Rick A. Wetta of Maryville, Tennessee; sister Betty Hendrix of Huntsville, Alabama; and Fiancée Sunny Davis of Merritt Island, Florida.
Calling hours begin at 11am followed by a Memorial Service at Noon on Monday January 5, 2015 at Wylie-Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home.
