Irene was born on September 26, 1951, in Endicott New York, the daughter of Robert and Jean (English) Morris. Life adventures brought her to live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina; and finally, to Cocoa, Florida where she created a loving home that welcomed anyone who graced the door.
She married Stanley Thomas Byrd, her forever love, on November 26, 1988, at a home ceremony with their neighbor and friend officiating. They combined their families and expanded their own, to raise six children together. The home was always busy, with friends always welcome to stay too. Through the years she gained 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and the excitement of another great-grandchild on the way.
Irene also cared for many children in her home for friends and those in need of childcare, and remained in contact with many of them after they grew into adulthood. She was lovingly called Aunt Reenie by her many nieces and nephews, and sister by her brothers Chuck Morris and Bobby Morris (Renee) and sister Marie Morris, as well as by in-laws and friends she grew close with through the years.
She loved to take care of animals and her home always had a few at any time from dogs, cats, and birds to rabbits and turtles. She had the most amazing green thumb always maintaining beautiful plants and flowers in and around her home. She was a fantastic cook who made many family favorites and left cherished recipes that they are so thankful for.
Remaining to cherish Irene’s memory are her husband Stanley Byrd, daughter Sonia Sawhill (Bruce), son Thomas Byrd, daughter Nichelle Kameka (Rae), son Van Lewark, and daughter Victoria Harmon (Bo), son-in-law Brian Migdalski, granddaughter Ashley Migdalski (Tommy), granddaughter Heather Migdalski, grandson Skyler Byrd (Natalie), grandson Jayden Holston, grandson Takoda Byrd, grandson Malik Kameka, grandson Braden Byrd, grandson Javon Kameka, grandson Jaden Kameka, , granddaughter Tiffany Byrd, grandson Ethan Sawhill, grandson Preston Kameka, grandson Caleb Byrd, granddaughter Amelia Harmon, grandson Oliver Lewark, great-grandson Bryson, great-grandson Theo, great-grandson William, and another great-grandson on the way.
