It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of an amazing father, grandfather, father-in-law, and a bonus dad to many. Known as "Poppy" to those who loved him, Stephen Joel Bearman was born on October 29, 1945, in Queens, NY. He was a cherished figure in our lives, deeply loved and respected by all who knew him.
Stephen was an incredible father to Stacey (November 1969–2016, deceased), Ilene (December 1974), and Michele (June 1976). He was also blessed with three wonderful sons-in-law—Kevin, Steve, and Kenny—who stepped up and provided beautiful families for his daughters.
He leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren: Alia, Morgan, Dakota, Tyler, Olivia, Jadon, Ashlyn, Aaron, and Logan, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Stephen was a beacon of love, wisdom, and strength, always there with a kind word or a helping hand. His legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire us every day. As an Army veteran, he served in the Vietnam War as a sharpshooter and a cook, known for making French toast for his buddies while in combat.
We will miss his infectious laughter, his incredible dance moves to the Lindy, old-time rock and roll, "Time Warp," "Mony Mony," "Celebration," and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light." His comforting presence and the unwavering support he provided to his family will never be forgotten.
While we mourn Stephen’s loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived. His spirit will live on in the stories we share, the lessons he taught us, and the love he gave so freely. We love you, Dad, and will miss you dearly. Keep shining down on us. We love you to the moon and back, Dad.
