

Alice Cecelia (Happy) Cress was born 1/26/1923 in Nevada, Iowa to William and Agnes McDonald Strain. Alice came from a large family of 7 children. She graduated from Gratettinger High School where lettered in basketball all four years. She met Glynn Silas Cress at a Labor Day dance and they married in 1941 just before he left for the war. Alice enjoyed baseball, basketball and her Phoenix Suns. She loved music, singing and dancing. (The Broom Dance)
Happy was very active, involved in Alter Society, playing cards, walking, camping and any activity involving her grandchildren. She was known for her pies and taught that art to many.
She was preceded in death by her siblings,Doris, Helen, Rose and Harry; followed by her infant son Donnie, husband Glynn, son Robert and daughter Lynn, great grandchildren Crystal, Tyler and Olivia. Alice is survived by a wonderful large family that includes her siblings Lois and Ray Montgomery, Shirley Hefty, Marilyn Strain; children: Mary Jefferson (Bill), Theresa Reddicks (Tom), Annette Cress, Sue Terranova (Robert) Grandchildren Maryann Varoga, Tommy Cress, Yvette Thompson, Nicole Paro, Jacob Cress, Toni Rodela, Stevie Spalsbury, Chris Jackson, Mona Kollmorgan, Lynnlee Ann Jefferson, Alicia Vitte, Holly Wiscombe, Jessica Jefferson, Tracie Massey, Tommy Reddicks, George Reddicks, Bill Reddicks, Travis Rowland, Michelle Browning, Luciano Terranova, Teresa Terranova, Joseph Terranova; Great Grandchildren Caleb, Sean, Blaze, Brody, Kendal, Patrick, Carson, Marissa, Ariana, Taylor, Ethan, Lianna, Loren, Brandon, Amati, Arial, Bethany, Veronica, Michael, Dean, Sarah, Kimberlie, Tobie, Madeline, Alex, Trevor, Travis Jr, Kristen, Davon, Dominic, Evie, Emma, Gavin, Elissa,Dylan, Declan, Lani, Luciano Jr, Mathew, Emma, Benjamin, Jacob, Isabelle and six great great grandchildren.
Our mother cherished her Catholic faith and family to her death. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family on September 10, 2018. If there was a lesson she wanted us to carry on, it would be to forgive, forget and remember to touch your toes.
