Allan Jordan Orler, age 90, passed away peacefully January 1, 2014, from complications associated with advanced Alzheimer's. He was surrounded by family and devoted caregivers. Allan was born in NYC, Feb.20, 1923. He served with distinction in the 10th Mountain Division, Army, during WWII, receiving among other medals the Silver Star. Earning his doctorate in education, Allan spent the bulk of his professional life in hospital administration in Arizona and California. Upon retirement,he and Betty moved to Leisure World in Mesa AZ. devoting his spare time to skiing, fishing, the 10th Mountain Reserve and his grandchildren. Allan is survived by his wife, Betty Talla Orler, his daughter, Karen Orler Krakower Kaplan of Houston,TX, step-sons, Mark Talla of Phoenix, Michael Talla and wife Mona of Los Angeles, CA, and Patrick Talla of Chandler, AZ. Allan was blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who will miss his humor and sense of adventure. A private memorial service was held Jan. 6 at Fellowship Square in Mesa AZ. The family requests all donations be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
