

Arnie was born, January 12, 1942, to Macey J Dale and Nita A. (Crabtree) Dale, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was united in marriage to Eloise Pickett, they were together 43 years before her passing in 2013. On August 12, 2014, in Mesa, AZ, he and Shirley A. (Hughes) Johnson united in marriage.
Arnie served in the Air National Guard for 6 years. For many years, he worked for Indiana Bell which became AT&T transferring to Arizona. He also worked for US Currency Protection Corp, Arizona State University and ASM (Advanced Semiconductors Materials). While at ASM, he was on the team that patented a Bubbler for substrate processing and held miscellaneous other jobs.
He was an active volunteer at Living Word Bible Church for many years, doing everything from painting to Media technician. He was “Mr. Fix-it”.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise, his parents, Macey and Nita, & his sister, Debbie.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley; his brothers, Deryl Dale and Tim Dale; daughter, Rachel Putnam, Granddaughter Sarah, her husband Noah Ritchie , great grandchildren Minerva, Florence & Felix; nephew Macey & Jenna Dale and children; and niece, Anna Dale; Stepchildren, Marvin & Julie Oppelt, Pam & Bill Ogden, Chuck & Karen Oppelt and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
His pride and joy was assembling, building, modifying and maintaining his Barton Theater Pipe Organ. (Once purchased, their home was built to house the Barton) He was a member of the Valley of the Sun Chapter of Arizona Chapter of the American Theater Organ Society. He loved to host gatherings at his home and special guests would come to play the organ from as far away as England. Christmas was a special time in the Dale home. Friends and family would gather on Christmas Eve to celebrate Jesus’ birth. This was a long-standing tradition.
Celebration of Life Service for Arnold J Dale will be Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11:00AM at Living Word Bible Church, 3520 E. Brown Road, Mesa, AZ 85213. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Living Word Bible Church, Shriners’ Hospital or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or give to the charity of your choice in his memory.
