Augustina Marquez

Augustina M. Marquez (“Tina”), was born on March 20, 1927, in Vadito, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Jose Donicio and Simonita Martinez. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Jose Renaldo, Jose Alfonso, Jose Juan, Jose Anastacio, and Jose Faustin Martinez. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Maria Bridget Mascarenas, Maria Caftula, and Maria Carmelita. Surviving brothers are Fares Martinez and Pete Martinez. Surviving sisters are Julia Pollack, Annie Martinez, and Cande Forbes. She was married to Roberto Marquez in July of 1944. She and Roberto had three children; Celina Dolores Hernandez born in 1945, who passed away in 2005; Michael Marquez, born in 1948 and passed away shortly after birth; and LeRoy Marquez born in 1952 who is her only surviving son. Leroy lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with his wife Carmen Marquez. She was also survived by her beloved nephew Tommy Martinez, who lived with Tina for many years. Tina has four grandchildren Salvador Hernandez, Roberta Seret, Olivia Bland, and Luis Marquez and four great grandchildren Anthony, Madison, and Macy Hernandez, and William Bland. Tina made her home in Lawndale, California where she was employed by the aerospace industry until she retired in 1997. Tina later made her home in Henderson, Nevada, where she lived next door to her sister Cande and husband Bob Forbes before her passing on August 28, 2011. Tina was 84 years old.
