Betty E. Conley born December 7, 1926 of Mesa, AZ wife of Thomas D. Conley passed away peacefully on May 9, 2014 at 12:05 a.m. of natural causes. Betty was 87 years old. Born in Cicero, Illinois, she spent her life in the Chicago area, and later retired to Mesa Arizona in 1993. She was a devout Catholic who found peace and strength in her church. She was a beautiful young woman who loved to take her summer trips to Saugatuck, Michigan and had many fond memories there. She was a loving and devoted mother to her four children and a loving wife to her husband, Thomas D.Conley who misses her dearly.
Betty was a very active businesswoman who worked many years in the hospitality, banking, and later in hospital administration industries. She worked at the Arlington Park Hilton Hotel in Arlington Park, Illinois, and at the O’Hare Hilton hotel when it first opened. At Christmastime, she always invited co-workers whose families from other countries to spend Christmas with her family. Her home was always open to those that would otherwise be alone on the holidays, which made Christmas quite a multi-cultural and memorable event. She was a very caring and thoughtful person who always had many friends.
Betty loved to sing and dance. She was an accomplished pianist and had an exquisite voice. She loved spending time with her four children, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also loved her animals dearly, and always had her dog or cats by her side.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents James T. Hauser and Bertha Hauser, her sister and brother in law Dorothy and William A. Barney, brother in law Chester N. Smogor and her loving son in law Randy K. Dickson as well as her faithful companion Jack Russell terrier Ginger, and her loving cat Cali. She is survived by husband Thomas D. Conley of Mesa, AZ, four children, Robert W. Seelbach Jr. of Mesa, AZ, Thomas J. Seelbach of La Marque, TX, Mary J. Seelbach/Dickson of Bull Valley, IL, and Cathy L. Seelbach/(John) Boruch of Herber City, UT, her sister Marion Smogor of Chicago, IL, and brother James (Barbara) T. Hauser, of Ft. Smith, AR and four grandchildren Wesley (Sharon) R. Dickson of Algonquin, IL, Lindsay (Daniel) L. Dickson/Andersen of Schaumburg, IL, Thomas (Lisa) J. Seelbach, Jr. of Chicago, IL, and Robert W. Seelbach III of La Marque, TX special Great Grandchildren Ryan W. and Kate M. Dickson of Algonquin, IL.
Betty's passing is a tremendous loss to his family and many friends who knew her.
Visitation is private with cremation to follow. She will be honored at Mass on August 3, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ. Special thanks and loving appreciation to her son Robert W. Seelbach Jr. for his personal sacrifices, love, and affection he provided for his Mothers care, and the staff of Emeritus, East Mesa for the superb care provided by her caretakers.
