

Charles Michael Jones (aka "Mike Jones") transitioned peacefully in Mesa, AZ on May 19th, 2021 at the age of 70. Mike was born on November 29, 1950 in Litchfield, Illinois to Bobby Bernard Jones and Bernice Esther Arnett Jones. He graduated with a degree from the Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, NE, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix in AZ; both in the field of Nursing. He married Linda Sue Lichtenberg in 1976 then later divorced, but remained great friends.
Mike worked almost 40 years as a successful Registered Nurse in AZ, eventually retiring from the Phoenix Indian Medical Center. He also served in the Marines and the Army Reserve and retired from the military as a Major. During his military career, he served in both the Desert Storm and Iraq War conflicts, providing nursing care to U.S. and Iraqi soldiers and civilians in the latter operation from Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. In his personal life, Mike loved listening to and sharing music, loving his family and friends, and had an incredible sense of humor.
Mike is survived by his sister Sue Ann McKelvie, brother-in-law Dennis McKelvie, son Christopher Matthew Jones, daughter Kimberly Sue Itzin, daughter-in-law Heather Marie Jones, son-in-law Sam Itzin, niece Erin Michelle Owens and family, nephew Landon Scott Small and family, as well as three wonderful, and much loved grandchildren Adrian Makaio Jones, William Matthew Michael Itzin and Kelly Sue Itzin.
Mike is preceded in death by his father Bobby Bernard Jones, mother Bernice Esther Arnett Jones, and sister Linda Kay Jones.
Mike has chosen for his loved ones to celebrate his life through sharing stories remembering him as everyone best sees fit. He has chosen to be cremated by the Lakeshore Mortuary. When his ashes are presented to his family, he will receive a short military ceremony which will be video-recorded and shared at this page.
