

Connie Christensen Young was called home on August 24, 2025. She was born on September 3, 1943, in Twin Falls, Idaho, the second of five children of Herman and LaDean Christensen. Connie grew up in Castro Valley, California, and spent the great majority of her adult life in Mesa, Arizona. Connie attended Brigham Young University and married Richard Brigham Young, her husband of 47 years, in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Richard preceded Connie in death by 16 years. Connie and Richard had 4 children, Lorie, Debbie, Brent, and Kristie.
While in Mesa, Connie participated in multiple community and religious organizations, including the Mesa City Band, the Board at Sunland Village East, the Sunland Singers, multiple Parent Teacher Organizations, the Arizona Latter-day Saint Choir, and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She also served as President of the Sunland Drama Club and her local Relief Society and Young Women’s organizations. Connie and Richard served missions together at the Mesa Arizona Temple and Family History Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for many years.
Connie is survived by her 4 children, 19 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and multiple in-laws. Connie’s joy was her wonderful family which includes Lorie and Ladd Stewart and their daughters, Allie (Heidi), and Madison; Debbie and Jeff Brown and their children, Dale (Amy), Demaree (Josh, Colter, and Beckham), Danielle (Kaden and Levy), Jake (Karlee and Easton), Jeremy, and Elder Jaren Brown – who is currently serving full-time as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Puira, Peru; Brent and Anna Young and their children, Regan (Ryan, Russell, Rhett, and Roger), Josh (Lisa and Sariah), Sydney, Ty, and Zoe; and Kristie and Jeff Fairbanks and their children, Braiden (Danielle), Jacob (Alissa), Wesley (Julia), Michael, Autumn, and Summer. Connie is also survived by her sister, Karen Crane and brother, Rick Christensen (Michelle).
A viewing/visitation will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 08:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 2265 S. Hawes Road in Mesa. A committal service will occur at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, 6747 E Broadway Rd Mesa, AZ 85206 at 12:15 PM.
