In 1926 the family moved to Scottsdale, AZ because a friend of the family had gotten a job for Earl. Danna attended Scottsdale grade school and high school. She played in the Harmonica band with her cousin and best friend LaWanda Teeter. She also studied typing and graduated from high school in 1942. She attended her 50th class reunion and received a red brick from the school buildings that were torn down.
On October 8, 1943 Danna married Albert Milton Nance in San Francisco, CA while he was home on leave from the Navy during WWII.
On December 14, 1944 their son Donald Eugene was born in Phoenix, AZ. In 1947 Milton was released from the Navy. They set up housekeeping in a government housing project at 16th Street and Roosevelt Street in Phoenix, AZ. In July of 1950 Danna and Milton moved into their new home on Clarendon and 24th Street where they lived until 1989 when they moved to Mesa, AZ. On March 22, 1955 their daughter Debra Ann was born in Phoenix, AZ.
After Milton passed away in 1992, Danna became very involved in a number of ladies groups at Broadway Christian Church where they had attended services for several years. Her faith and religious beliefs helped her continue her life until she passed away on May 13, 2014. Danna was a wonderful role model for her children and they have tried to follow in her footsteps.
Danna leaves behind her daughter Deb Tomb and her husband Mike, son Don Nance and his wife Paula, brother George Williams, sister Annell Sandberg and 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren (due soon).
A memorial service will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Broadway Christian Church, 7335 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85208
