Delbert Wesley Kolbe, Sr. 93 of Mesa, AZ passed away July 6, 2015. Delbert was born in Raymond, Minnesota June 18, 1922 to Arthur and Tillie Kolbe. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. He married the love of his life Betty Marie Alf June 1, 1946 and they had 5 children. Delbert worked as a Machinist for FMC of Minnesota for 14 years and the Naval Base San Diego, California for 20 years. He was a member of VFW, DAV and Billiards Club of Carriage Manor. His hobbies include amateur inventing, woodwork, lapidary, fishing, camping, playing cards and most of all spending time with his grandchildren whom he greatly cherished. Delbert is survived by his wife Betty; his daughters Shirley Kolbe of Berryville, AR and Sharon (Dana) Hoel of Anoka, MN; his sons Darrold (Sara) Kolbe of Spring Valley, CA, Del Jr. (Lorrie) of Prescott Valley, AZ and Dennis Kolbe of Mesa, AZ; his brother Merrill (Norma) Kolbe of Apache Junction, AZ; his brother-in-law O.J. Gullickson of Slayton, MN; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Tillie Kolbe; sisters Valeera Kolbe and Phyllis Gullickson; his brother Werner Kolbe as well as his great-grandson, Justin, his little “Buddy”. A Memorial Service was held for Delbert at 3:00 PM, July 18, 2015 at Melcher Mortuary Chapel of the Roses 43 S. Stapley Dr. Mesa, AZ 85204.
