

Eldor Edward Schuerman, age 72, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Mesa. He was born April 21, 1941 in Wilbur, Nebraska, the son of Elmer and Irma Huneke Schuerman. On October 24, 1959, he married the love of his life, Barbara Lynn Martin. She survives. Eldor was confirmed on April 3, 1955 at st. John’s American Lutheran church in Beatrice, Nebraska. In 2009, the Schuermans relocated to Mesa from Sheldon, IA. He and his wife attended Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mesa. Eldor was well known for his artistic talent. He loved to paint, especially during the holidays when he painted Christmas scenes. He also loved to sketch and listen to music. He always had some sort of project in the works. He was known as Mr. Fix-it in his community and was always willing to help his neighbors with their projects. Eldor’s grandchildren will always have a special place in their hearts where they keep the memories of helping grandpa with his projects. He was also a past Cub Scout Master who worked hard to instill the traditional values that are so important for young people to learn. He was dedicated to the teachings of Alcoholics Anonymous. A.A. was an important part of his life for many years. In addition to his wife Barbara, Eldor is survived by: two sons, Scott Schuerman and his wife Carol of Marion, IA; and Todd Schuerman and his wife Jennifer of Mesa, AZ; eight grandchildren, Mark Schuerman and his wife Alex, Seth, Jay, Michael, Andrew, Mary Kate, Rachel, and Carter Schuerman; a great grandson Isaac Schuerman; a brother, Darryl Schuerman and his wife Cheryl of Laguna Hills, CA; and a sister Edie Wilson and her husband Larry of Scottsbluff, NE. Eldor is also greatly loved and will be missed by many in-laws and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 12, at 2:00 pm in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ. Honorary pallbearers will be Eldors grandchildren, Mark Schuerman, Seth Schuerman, Jay Schuerman, Michael Schuerman, Andrew Schuerman, Mary Kate Schuerman, Rachel Schuerman, and Carter Schuerman. The family requests that memorial donations be made to help support your local Cub Scout Pack (donations can also be made to the Cub Scouts through the Boy Scouts of America) or to Alcoholics Anonymous.
