Emil F. Mueller

Arriving on June 23, 1921 Emil was born in Stacyville, Iowa to John and Elizabeth (Thome) Mueller. He attended Meyer Catholic School. In September of 1942 Emil was drafted and served over 3 years in the U.S. Army during the European Theater starting in England, in France at the Invasion of Normandy, Battle of the Bulge in Germany through Belgium, and in the Netherlands. In June of 1998, he was presented the Silver Pin by a French Representative for his involvement in the Invasion of Normandy. He was a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of the American Legion, and also a member of the VFW.

On January 30, 1946, Emil married the love of his life, Margaret Loecher in Stacyville, Iowa. For 35 years he farmed southeast of Osage, Iowa. They moved permanently to Mesa, Arizona in 1999. He enjoyed his retirement years in Arizona playing softball, tennis, golf, dancing, and bridge.

Emil is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of Mesa, Arizona; daughter Janet Pickar of Austin, Minnesota; sons Robert (Cheryl) Mueller of Mesa, Arizona, and Richard Mueller of Forest City, Iowa; 3 brothers Elmer (Mary) Mueller of Austin, Minnesota, Delphin (MaryAnn) Mueller of Austin, Minnesota, and Lavern (Gloria) Mueller of Osage, Iowa; 5 sisters Cyrilla Rockers of Austin, Minnesota, Maxine Halback of Austin, Minnesota, Irene Hemann of Stacyville, Iowa, Anita Adams of Stacyville, Iowa, and Mary (Jerome) Mullenback of Adams, Minnesota, 5 grandchildren Ryan Pickar, Carolyn (Eric) Kraft, Lane (Troy) Polito, Valerie (Brian) Bailey, LaVonne (Bob) Sletton, 9 great-grandchildren Michael and Anthony Pickar, Blake and Alexa Kraft, Grant and Mallory Polito, Courtney Bailey, Cadence and Carrigan Sletton. He was preceded in death by his parents,; one son Keith Mueller; one brother Marvin Mueller; two sisters Viola Mueller and Evelyn Brumm; four brothers-in-law.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. with a service to immediately follow at Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care and Memorial Park 6747 E. Broadway Rd.
