Gilda Mirizio

On September 4, 2014 our loving mom Gilda Mirizio passed into heaven after 79 years of a wonderful life. Gilda was born in East Orange New Jersey on May 3, 1935. In 1975 her family moved to Tempe, AZ to begin a new life. Gilda was vibrant spirit with a zest for life. Her love of her lord and her family is what made her get up each day.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Vincent Mirizio and her children Frank and Becky Mirizio, Vinny and Gina Mirizio and Gerard and Susan Zacchio. As well as her 8 beautiful grand children Francesca, Nicole, Hannah, Angelo, Bridget, Mary Elizabeth, Marissa and Isabella. Her surviving sisters Dolly, Antoinette and Lucy.

Gilda was an active parishioner at Holy Spirit Catholic Church served for many years on the funeral committee, social committee and in the last few years as a hospice volunteer. Remembered by many as the opera singer at the 9:00 mass and the lady who always smiled, Our Mother will be missed. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to Companion hospice.

The viewing and Rosary are Sunday September 7 from 4:00-7:00 at Lakeshore Mortuary,1815 S. Dobson Road in Mesa AZ. A celebration of life Catholic mass will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 E. Libra Drive in Tempe, AZ on Monday September 8 at 10:00 am. Committal Services will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1562 E. Baseline Road in Mesa, AZ.
