Mesa, Arizona – Gladys A. Baxter, age 93 of Collinsville, IL, born July 25, 1928, in Madison County, IL, passed away on February 12, 2022, at home in Mesa, AZ.
Gladys was a graduate of Collinsville High School and was employed as the Collinsville City Treasurer for 26 years and retired in 1984. She was active in several Women’s organizations in both Collinsville and Mesa. She was also on the board and was secretary of the Collinsville United Fund. She was a long-time member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Collinsville and a member of Gold Canyon United Methodist Church in Mesa. She lived full-time in a RV for over 10 years, enjoyed the outdoors, reading and playing golf.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Anna (nee Kleppisch) Kunnemann; brother, Roy Kunnemann, and sisters, Irene Kunnemann and Evelyn (nee Kunnemann) Meyer and great granddaughter Mary Katherine McQueary.
She is survived by her husband John R. Baxter; sons, Keith Mason (Kathleen) of Pitkin, Louisiana and Barry Roziewski of Rockwood, Tennessee; six grandchildren: Dina (Michael), Lori (Dan), Jaime (Jason), Heath, Katherine (John) and Erick; 11 great-grandchildren; Hailey, Payton, Madison, Mason, Weston, Asher, Kash, Jeremiah, Michael, Ephraim and Lydia. Nephews and Nieces; Roy (RA), Susan, Sharon, Anne and Jane.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in Mesa, Arizona.
