

Glen Steele Reed, age 82 of Mesa, passed away February 3, 2022 at his home. He was born in Essex, Illinois on July 19, 1939, the son of the late Florence and Lloyd Reed and the 11th of thirteen children. Glen graduated from Kankakee, Illinois High School in 1957.
He joined the U.S. Navy in September 1959 where he worked as a machinist stationed in California, Japan, and the Philippines. After his Navy tour, he studied Manufacturing Technology at Mesa Community College and Arizona State University and received a BA degree in Management from the University of Phoenix. Glen married his wife of 48 years, Mary, in June of 1973, and adopted her two children, Christina and John. Together they had two sons, Daniel and James. Glen worked as a machinist, manufacturing engineer and design checker at AiResearch, Garrett, Allied-Signal and Honeywell for 20 years. After his retirement from Honeywell, he operated his own “Round-To-It” Handyman Service. He was an expert woodworker, building many beautiful pieces of furniture, built-in cabinets, and bookcases. Glen enjoyed spending time with family, dancing, traveling, reading, boating, camping, and fishing.
Glen was predeceased by his wife Mary in September of 2021 and daughter Christina in 1980. He was also predeceased by his brothers Clarence, Everett, Orville and Wayne and sisters Dorothy, Doreen, Betty, Edith, Margie, Sandy and Florence (Sue).
Left to cherish his memory are his sons Daniel (Brianna, Adalyn, Jacob and Max) and James (Jennifer, Lauren, Nicholas and Nathan), his brother Tom of Sarasota, Fl, and many other family members and friends.
