Harriet Lavon McCoy

Harriet Lavon McCoy (Mickelson) September 1st, 1935, to Harry and Isabelle Mickelson in Milroy, MN. She graduated from Milroy High School in 1953 and married Marvin on July 20th the same year. Soon after they moved from Milroy to Granite Falls, where they opened their business, McCoy Oil Company, and raised their three children. They remained in Granite Falls until the early 1980’s when they began living year-round in Mesa, AZ.

Harriet was strong willed and confident with who she was as well as what she wanted. She was thoughtful and direct with her words. Harriet went on many adventures with Marvin by her side. Family was very special to her, and she cherished their time together. She enjoyed hosting and spending time surrounded by family and friends.

She is survived by her son Kevin (Mary Ann) McCoy of Boiling Springs, SC, grandchildren Rachel McCoy of Wilmington, NC, Ryan McCoy of Greensboro, NC, Taylor Morganson of Tempe, AZ, Parker Morganson of Mesa, AZ, sister Kay (Walter) Flesner of Mankato, MN and brother Dean (Nancy) Mickelson of Arlington, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her parents Harry and Isabelle Mickelson, children Michael McCoy and Cindy Morganson, sister Jeanette Dobias, and Lynnette McCoy.

A celebration of life for Harriet will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, with a visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and a service to follow, at Sunset Funeral & Cremation, 100 North Ave, Echo, MN 56237.
