

She was born on March 5, 1924 in Neosho, Missouri. She was raised on a farm on the outskirts of Neosho, and was the 3rd daughter of 9 children born to James Denton and Felicia (Edmisten) Sprenkle. A war bride, she married Chester F Jones on February 4, 1943. Hazel began her electronics fabrication career during World War II in Los Angeles, Ca. and continued her employment at Hughes Aircraft in Tucson, AZ, until her retirement in 1986.
After retirement, Hazel volunteered for 15 years at Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital gift shop in Tucson, Az. An avid game player, she enjoyed bingo, and travelling. Her travels included Hawaii, Alaska, Europe and Ireland. She especially enjoyed summer trips to her sister’s cabin in Northern California.
Hazel is survived by her daughter Bonnie (Mark) Nye; her 6 grandchildren Michele Jones, Brian Jones, Missy Jones, Cassie Jones, Ryan Mitchell, Katie Mitchell; and one great grandchild Gabriel Jones; sisters Maxine McCormack and Nadine Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Chester, F. Jones, sons Bruce Jones and Larry Jones.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, at 10:30am, followed by funeral service at 11 am at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care in the Cemetery Chapel.
